Holidays in Public Spaces

The public library has a delicate balancing act during "the holidays" in the winter months. Christian holidays, often thought of as secular and/or universal, are everywhere - and the public library is no exception.

I love Christmas, don't get me wrong. I adore a tree at night with twinkling lights. I belt out Christmas songs in my car. And don't get me started on Holiday Romance Movies. HAPPILY EVER AFTERS FOR THE WIN!!

But I can get that anywhere. My house. The drug-store. The mall. Community parades. The Hallmark Channel. The radio. Do I really NEED it at the library too?

Does anyone actually miss out on experiencing Christmas if the library doesn't put up a tree or have a Santa visit?
